Have asked for a new pair for Christmas, and don't know which to go for!! Opportunities to try on are fast running out so I'm looking for any advice/experience!
Dubarrys are well out of budget, I've had a look at the Dublin Pinnacle and Ariat Windemere, and tried on a pair of Mark Todd ones.
I also tried a pair of Toggi's but couldn't get my foot round the corner at the heel (if that makes sense?!)

Any input very welcome!

Happy Christmas :)

I don't have any yet, as I am also struggling to decide!! I have mainly looked at the arias so far, but someone pointed me in the direction of the HKM boots last night - you can find them on www.inter-equine.com :)

The only thing I'm still trying to decide on is although the HKM boots are far faaaar cheaper, are they still as comfy as the ariats? I love my other ariat boots and shoes

Re the HKM - a girl at work has had hers since Feb and is getting wet feet already!

I'm not sure which Toggis' I tried, but it wasn't my calf that I had problems with, I've got torn ligaments in my ankle and didn't have the flexibility to get my foot into the foot part of the boot!

I know you've mentioned very specific brands in your post but for all round comfort, warmth, waterproofing and durability I'd have to say any of the Muck Boot Co range are amazing! Strictly speaking yes, they are wellies, but the Tynes are long riding boots and look good in black. I live in my Esks and wouldn't ever change to another brand. £70 and the last pair did me 4 years of very heavy use!

If you are after something a bit different, you could try these http://www.cotswoldcountryboots.co.uk/catalogue_main.php?catID=1129
I've had my pair for over 2 years now and they get worn to death and yet look brilliant still!

Ohhhhhhh, I love those Spanish boots, and the cowboy boots, and the campos, and the short frays, translating into $ as I speak, hmmm, only $265 ish, reasonable...trouble is that I already have a brand new pair of dubarrys that haven't seen mud or water yet sitting next to a brand new pair of DR's that haven't even seen the outside of their box, I don't need new boots, since when did that stop me?

I think the Spanish boots look servicable and the price is pretty reasonable.

Save up for Dubarrys. I've had Dublin - backs collapsed and weren't waterproof, and HKM are stupidly narrow, Rydales look very plasticy and bagged down very quickly. I now have Dubarrys and LOVE them.

They are ace! I got mine a couple of years ago at Gatcombe when I wanted something different to the dubarry uniform that is sported by everyone round here. Well, bloomin every brand since has brought out their own version, gutted! They are lasting so well though, a slick of oil and they still look brand new and were comfy straight out the box. I do try not to look at their website though as I could make a case for 'needing' most of the boots on there!
Go on, you know you want to......!

Think the Tuffa boots are head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality, warmth and you can ride in them too.
Lots of negative views on posts around Dubarry's. Interesting that the positive ones are all from people who bought theirs a few years ago. Someone told me that are now made in China so maybe this has something to do with it?

I had some Sherwood Dalton boots last year,I love them. They are really warm and comfortable. They come in normal and wide calf sizes too.
Another vote for Sherwood Forest boots, I have the Furlong ones that have a zip up the back - wide fit for my sturdy calves! They clean up really well and haven't leaked in the 2 years I've had them. Can pick them up on ebay for around £100.

Hope you get a better pair than mine then - the lining came away from the boot after 6 or so wears and we very nearly had to cut them off my leg as my foot was jammed in, NOT impressed for £120, I got a refund and will go back to muck boots as these are functional rather then just fashionable.

I was looking for some country type smarter boots, I already have High Riders for riding and Hunters and Muckboots for the yard, and some other Mountain horse short muckers. I went to the shops and did some research on tinternet... The info I gathered was that the Dublins are not very waterproof, I didn't like the soles on the Toggi ones or the Sherwood Forest because they look like they can come apart where they meet the leather - I had some riding boots with soles like that and they leaked. I also looked into which ones are just waterproofed and which have a waterproof membrane - the cheaper ones don't have the membrane so you have to keep spraying them with Kiwi or something. In the end I opted for the Ariat Windermeres - from a place on ebay where they are £130 with free postage. I did try them on in a shop first :)
The soles are very tough and strong and feel sturdy, they are acidproof etc so fine for mucking out. They have a waterproof lining but I also sprayed them with Kiwi to stop them getting marked. They are comfy to wear all day and don't slip down. I am rather pregnant so I needed something supportive and easy to get on and off! And they are... They came with a very long shoe horn as well - perfect for me! Just waiting for snow now so I can get my money's worth out of them...

Thank you for posting this - I think I've just made my mind up to go for the ariats. Now just whether to do the windermeres, or to splash out and get the grasmeres lol

Just measured mine - size 7 & wide, they are 18 1/2inches round the widest part. They are slighty padded so I'd say 171/2 inches easily. I have huge calves- or did until I lost weight - I would have taken xw or xxw in chaps for example and my Daltons fit me fine, I would say they are quite roomy.
