Riding out this afternoon, i was just thinking to myself how chilly it has got, and thought of swapping to the thicker rugs tonight.. when riding past a field of about 50+ dairy cows, what should i see but one of the cows wearing a nice 'Masta tri-vent' (for added shoulder movememt) turn-out rug..

I actually saw said cow wearing said rug last winter, but forgot to post about it... haha, tis a very funy sight!!
But nice to see a farmer caring.

ETS. most the farmers round us are a pretty hard/harsh bunch.

They're not the only ones, one of my customers works on a farm and she puts rugs on the calves if any are born late or are weak, she names them all individually too and cuddles them, they even give her kisses which wasn't too attractive to watch.

I used to own underblankets for the horses. Sickly cows soon started having them draped over them instead. Never rugged a cow out in the field though. Bless.

Ah, we make all of the new born calves rugs in winter monthes, my mum and I spent hours sewing the velcro on, they were hand made jobs but very smart, and a calf with a rug is a calf without hyperthermia

I used to have to share my Clyst cooler rugs with some of our cows! We used to take a few cows to shows/sales and the Clyst rugs warmed/dried them after being washed in freezing cold markets. Luckily we don't have cows any more although the rugs are still going strong!
