Hi planning on going county this year.. what saddle would be best?? Working hunter? Ridden hunter classes? They all seem to be different styles do i want straight cut or something a bit further forward cut? How do i know if they will show off the shoulder properly? The horses are a 15.3hh tbxid built like a mini tank! and a 16.3hh cbxtb. thanks

Mine is a working hunter show saddle by ideal. Very straight cut & quite flat seat. I can still jump up to 1m in it & it's used for hunting and all other work too.

You show the shoulder more by placing it slightly further back than normal, just a few inches.

Stinky had a Silhouette WH with suede seat and front panels which was super. He now has a Saddle Company WH with suede seat and front panels which does very well and gives a very secure jumping seat.

Farra is shown in a Forrester WH, again with suede seat and front panels.

I don't go for too straight a cut saddle as Stinky being a gypsy cob and Farra being a Clydesdale have big shoulders so I can get away with something that is a bit more secure and still have a good display of front end. I personally don't like too straight cut a saddle to ride, and my saddles are used to do everything in, hence the WH being the best of all worlds.

Flyde and Ideal are very popular for showing.
