Looking for any ideas on how to keep my mares legs covered. Quick background for the reason is she had photosensitivity as a youngster and I think the skin on the inside of her hocks is still sensitive as one has had a scabby patch all summer and the lateral bursa have been slightly filled. Vet been no lameness or anything to be concerned over.
I've tried fleece hock boots, ended up around her fetlocks within 10 minutes and I can't have them any tighter due to risk of pressure points.
I've tried sun lotion and she had a massive reaction which resulted in both hocks swelling where I had applied it. It was supposed to be for hypersensitive for babies and young children too! It's all lies!
I've looked at the swanky hock boots with leather straps but seeing as she will be wearing them for long periods dont think they will be suitable.
I have spent the best part of the last 3 days designing and creating my own leg attachments to her fly rug. It looks like a sowing car crash if I'm honest... I was aiming for a comfy culotte effect as one might wear whilst vacationing in the French Riviera, with a seam at the hock to allow freedom of movement (this is how I would market my equine fashion statement 😌, I've never been to the French Riviera but this is what I assume everyone wears) Instead I've got what might be a product of a group kindergarten project 😩.
New ideas greatly appreciated or some sort of sowing wizard that could magic up my idea and at least get the seams on the correct side ☺️
