Do stallions get strain injuries to thier shoulders? Perhaps mounting or dis mounting large mares? :confused:My 38 years pony has a very peculiar lameness, he is not entire but still thinks he is. I think he may have been mounting a 16hh mare he is 11.3hh Ambitious:rolleyes:

Yes definitely. I had a gelding who was gelded late and several times found him mounting others. He then became sore on his withers and when physio checked had torn a muscle across the top from doing it.

Thankyou for your posts, Sadly I shall never know quite what happened. He was down in the box this morning, we got him up but he went down again and I have had him put down this morning.

I hope he was enjoying himself when this injury occured, this much I know, on monday he had a hell for leather gallop on the beach and in the afternoon he gave a super lunge lesson. I can honestly say he lived life to the max, gave many many children a super start to their riding and leaves us with plenty of wonderful memories to treasure. I have had the pleasure of owning him for 31 years. He owes me nothing.

oh so sorry for your loss, was chuckling at the first post, now really sad, it sounds like you had many years of fun with him. x
