I travelled to see to my horses during the first complete lockdown at the start of all this. I just made sure I had the horses passports in the car to prove where I was going. It's all very confusing now isn't it.o_O

You can probably justify visiting - and the police have bigger issues to deal with. BUT

As an alternative view - if you can find an alternative - i.e. the yard owner providing basic care - or organising a rota so you only have to visit a reduced number of times. Could you be helping the situation rather than risk making it worse?
The longer lockdowns go on, the longer the misery for so many people (jobs, mental health etc), so maybe rather than justifying why we are exempt from the rules we could spend time working out how we can reduce contact with people. Especially given recent research showing it can live on hard surfaces for days and days.

Just because you can does it mean you should

I'm lucky in that my horses are kept on a farm where there are no other horses or people so meeting up with someone else was never going to be a problem. I have friends who worked out a rota with others on their yard so their horses were done for them at certain times and they did horses for others in return. It just meant that there weren't too many people on the yard at the same time. It depends on your circumstances.

I've just seen Lancashire is now in Tier 3 lockdown. Friend was meant to be going to view horse at yard in Lancashire next week (plan was not to stop anywhere other than the yard, remain outdoors and use hand gel etc), however, won't be going now.

I personally think that a two week circuit breaker lockdown might be useful.
