Has anyone used Cow Mats instead of Horse Mats, if so what are your thoughts, where did you get them from and for how much.

I understand them to be cheaper, just as durable although can be heavy?

Yes I've got cow mats - had them for over 10 years with no problems.

Not too heavy either I can easily move one on my own!

Got them from www.cowcomfort.freeuk.com

I had Cow Comfort mats too. They also make Horse Comfort which are the same except more expensive. The cow mats are no heavier than the horse ones I'd say. I had them for years and would have brought them with me when I emigrated if it wasn't for darned Customs Officers!

Not sure if I'm much use as I use horse mats but I might give you some idea on pricing...? I have Kraiburg Kenmats for Ali's stable ( http://www.kraiburg.co.uk/ ), they're 6 foot x 4 foot and they were €60 (£45?) per mat, I haven't had them for that long, but I think that they'll last a VERY long time. They are quite heavy, but I'm able to shift them around on my own.

Cow Comfort /Mayo Mats throughout for me. I have had some of them almost 20 years (meep) and they are still good. Have them in my lorry, too! Really warm and really light. My biggest creature is only 15.2 though.

This is one thing I have NEVER seen at a farm sale. You would think that if there is a disposal sale the cow mats would be included - but no.

My husband is reminded every time he goes to a sale to look out for some. So far no result.

We have cow mats in 7 stables and they are fine but have just done our other 5 stables out with mats from Black Mat company - and they are fab!! so much easier to sweep over and a bit lighter and a grreat price delivered within 3 days of ordering - highly recommend
