"Cow Ponies"? Pfffft!

Ted's coming up 4. He doesn't do a lot of work though - this was his first ride in 2mo. It probably took me longer to upload the vid to youtube than it did to train him to be honest!
 
Impressive! well done - there's plenty of folks couldn't do that with their horses after years of 'training'! I have worked a little with cattle (NOT riding though - I couldn't deal with the no shoulders!) but we had an oxen plough team at a farm at work. I found them much more reactive that you did, I was just assisting the real cattle man (and I was glad he knew what he was doing!) what I felt was that they are quicker to light up but quicker to cool off. So if startled they would go from asleep to run in a millisecond but likewise when they settled they just went from crazy to calm again. whereas horses tend to hold on to anxiety more - they startle then jog for the next half mile!

what a bummer you can't 'hack out' he looks like he would be a good hack -
