my neighbours (live on adjecent road to us) are complete ars*holes! we live in middle of countryside, on quiet country roads, lots of horses, cows etc around. these neighbours moved up here from a city, we often ride past their house (which is set just back from the road) to meet up with our horsey friends who live on that road. as horses do, they sometimes have had a poo on the road outside these ppls house - but on the road. the other day, the woman & her husband came screaming out of the house to my mum who was riding past, and where ffing and blinding to her about picking up all this horse sh*t on the road blah blah, how dare we allow our horses to have a poo near their house, she has got her marigolds dirty picking it up etc etc they were so livid they were hopping up and down my mum didnt know whether 2 laff or cry!the other problem with them is that they drive lke maniacs on the road , and on several occasions when been signalled to slow down past us and others on horses they have actually sped up and drove v close to the horses. as u can see they are a real problem and its getting2 be dangerous - we dont know wat to do!they have choosen 2 live here in amonsgst horses etc, they should show sum bloody considersation, and get over a bit of horse poo!sooooo mad!!

I would be peed off if you're horse kept crapping outside my house too I'm afraid.

As for the dangerous driving - simple, report them to the police.

I'd go to your local police station and explain the situation and explain how dangerous they are driving on the roads. Hopefully they will go and have a word, maybe put in a complaint about them?? Its surprising how when the police are involved sometimes people realise they cant act like prats and get away with it!!!!

Put a leaflet throught their front door explaining how to use horse manure for fertiliser?

We have people like that near us.

If they are persistently agressive to you I'd report them to the police. Some people need to know that you won't be pushed around

Just ignore the poo comments - horses poo, end of!

Driving problems, well as Amy says, just go and speak to the police.

See if you can get the local policeman to have a word with them about their driving habits around horses and livestock. Our County has a Rural Police Officer covering rural areas and there are also Community Officers around - not police exactly, but a sort of side-kick and they do wear a uniform. Try asking the Parish Clerk if there is anyone you could contact.

About horses's droppings in the road - I'm afraid I would just laugh. You could point out that droppings are only chewed up grass and will disappear quickly with rain. Also good for the garden, when composted.

Coming out and swearing would be classed as aggresive behaviour as well.

yes but its on the road, and its only been a handfull of occasions , surely if u choose to live in the countryside, where all ur neighbours have horses, u cant get hopping mad and abusive about a couple of horse poos on the road outside!

If it was me ide give them a right dam mouthful. But that wouldnt solve anything. Go to the police and make a complaint about verbal abuse. There is no law to say where your horse can and cant poo so hopefully they will disregard that issue.
Good luck and keep kool!!!

But it's not like you can do anything about it. Yes it annoying but they should accept that its all part of living in the countryside. Daisy always poos at about the same distance after leaving the yard, whatever direction we go in which unfortunately means that she frequently goes outside the same person's house. I can't stop her doing it and I'm sorry but I'm not going back to clean it up. If we start cleaning up horse poo from public roads (with the exception of extreme cases such as seaside donkeys) then we play into the public prejudice that its as dangerous as dog mess. I've had numerous friends repeat this fallacy to me. People just need educating.

Somehow A_M, I can't picture you running from your house f-ing and blinding at the horse riders though!

people have had a go at me for my horse poo-ing on the beach, however the law says we are allowed on after 7pm in summer and says nothing about picking it up but yet people still always have a go that i should pick it up blah blah. i just say how the *Bleep* am i ment to do it???

I really can't be doing with people like that. We've got a few 'townies' who want the 'pretty' countryside around them but don't want the smell or horse poo etc. I would love to tell them to go home back to the town but that would be stooping to their level of verbally abusing people to get their own way. Keep a record of any incidents - verbal abuse, threatening behaviour and mad driving. The police should take a written record/diary of abuse seriously.

No I wouldn't LOL. I do understand how it can be annoying though if it's a frequent occurance right outside the drive.

Not only have I turned in to a tree hugger in my old age, but I think I may be learning to be understanding too - it's all a bit of a worry.......

Amy, I have poo outside my house and all the way down my driveway.....constantly, LOL!! I just wait for it to disappear in a couple of days....to be replaced by new poo!

I've lived in the countryside for most of my life and I have never understood why townies come to live here if they don't like it. Do they not realise before they buy their houses that animals live in the countryside and that they produce poo? I tried living in a city for a couple of years and absolutely hated it so I moved back to the countryside. It never occurred to me to go around telling everyone else off for doing normal "city things" because I didn't like all the noise, pollution and general grime!

You live in the country you have to expect $hit! Shame you don't have any pigs around you, cos they would realize that pig $hit is FAAAAAAAAAAR worse than horse poo -haha! And I am sure they drive through a lot worse than horse poo - which you should point out is not as bad a dog or cat mess!

if it is a country road - a proper one not a wee cul de sac then sorry but they have to expect poo or dirt! We have folk like that near my parents. They hated my horse pooing, but it was perfectly alright for their dog to crap at the end of our drive!?!

And for the driving fast, if it was me I would stick my foot out a bit or my crop, cause they cant complain cos if they did then they would be admitting dangerous driving! Also I would tell teh police, and print off a pic of a horse sitting on a car bonnet and the dent it makes and stick it through their door and ask them to slow the &*$% down!

Well this'll make you laugh - I was on the verge of complaining about a herd of cows in a nearby field making too much noise the other morning.

Well they did wake me up at 5.00am

City Bumpkins annoy the crap out of me. Cows - live in the country. Pigs - live in the country. sheep - live in the country. cockerals - live in the country. church bells - ring.

Politely inform these saddoes that the 'manure' will do wonders for their roses and lettuces, then nip off and complain about their driving to the police.

Bloomin' Townies

When we lived in the UK the village next to ours actually tried to ban horses

I honestly believe these types will not rest until they've turned the countryside into a 'safe' park
