Crabbet-like arabs

I'm looking for a breeder or supplier of crabbet-like arabs - eg I'm not keen on the showy exaggerated lines, but like the square more solid look of the crabbet type arab. I need someone in the Northwest, or possibly midlands-ish or North East. Anyone know anyone?

Have you looked on the Arabian lines website? That is probably your best option as a first port of call.

I was going to suggest Harwoods but then realised where you live! Harwood Arabian Stud is in Sussex, but they do have Crabbet type Arabs there.

Oooh good luck finding your horse! I have two crabbet bred horses. One is about 60% Crabbet. I love Harwoods Arabs, they are stunning.

If you like Crabbets you'll also like the Russians - my boy is Russian but his ancestory is full of Crabbet blood as they imported stallions like Skowronek (sp) to improve their breeding stock

My part bred was bred at Harwoods, he is by Saker who was Crabbet/Old English and also they had Kasadi who was 100% Crabbet.
They have both sadly died now, but they have kept lots of their offspring to breed from

I can see I will be travelling miles. So far the only ones I have seen that I like have been Norfolk, Scotland (north!!) and now I have Horsham to keep an eye on too. Sounds like that Harwood stud is a place to watch so thanks for that. I'll break it to my OH gently. And I'll check out the Russian lines too.

I would actually put a "wanted" on Arabian Lines. And a good breeder to make some initial enquiries of would be Anne Brown at Gadebrook Stud. She's very into Crabbet bloodlines and may be able to give you some contacts.
