I found an advert for this in an old horsemart, I've never heard of it before and wondered whether anyone had been, or anyone had any more details? I forgot to bring the horsemart to work so I can't ring for a schedule yet, and just wondered whether any of you guys could shed some light...

Thanks!!

Emily xx

Can't find anything on Horsemart's diary of events. I presume this is Crabbett Park nr Crawley, Sussex ?

Its a crawley number on the advert, which is why I thought I'd look it up, as its so close to me, so I presumbe so. But yes, I can't find anything anywhere, just this loan colour advert... have you been there before Rambo? Is it worth investigating?

It used to be one of the main BSJA venues in Sussex until they built the hotel and closed the indoor arena.

Just been doing some investigative work and it seems the Arabian Stud is still there but the indoor arena is now a health club...and the outdoor warm-up is a car park

Sorry, not much help to you but brought back some memories for me

Could be an interesting venue then, warming up by doing 20 metre circles around the posh cars and then using the beauty treatment beds as practice jumps.... don't mind me and my imagination!!

samp - have you been there more recently?

good grief, i used to work at crabbet park in the 19**'s
was amazing in its day. very sad last time i went to have a look round. maybe the cross country course was rebuilt.
would love to go.

Hey i know Crabbett quite well. Have done the Hunter Trial quite often. They do a 2ft, 2ft6 and 2ft9-3ft. There is no water there. As Samp said it can be very rutty and hard so id watch the weather. They use the fields for grazing so thats never a great thing. Its ok but it wouldnt be my first choice. I think its a ODE isnt it. Im sure thats when they hold it? The warm up for XC is in the sandschool! Interesting!

The advert said it was a hunter trial, however I've just managed to locate a number and have left a message on an answerphone, so I will hopefully get a call back.

I will definately be wary of the ground, was just excited to have found a hunter trial to do this late into the summer, but i guess it has its drawbacks!!

Any other tips on what the biggest course will be like froglett? Up to height, any tricky questions etc?

Thank you!!

Havent done the bigger course. I know there is a coffin but im afraid thats about it. I think its a good 2ft 9. The 2ft 6 is pretty solid and decent. Dont get me wrong its not a terrible course. In the 2ft6 there quite a few questions you jump into woods and then its a bit up and down hill. Theres no galloping stretches it sort of goes round lots of little fields. There isnt a lot of grass covering that is why they have problems with the ground more than anything. The best thing is you get a time slot! Fab - no hanging around!
