Hello,
I have 2 Thoroughbred ex-racers that were moved to a new 20acre paddock this year, they look the best they ever have but 1 has developed cracks in the walls of his feet. They both have no shoes on and aren't getting any extra feed except carrots as they have still loads of grass. The cracks are starting at the coronet band working downwards which suggests its not down to uneven ground or badly trimmed feet, i am having him done every 4 weeks. There has been no injury to the coronet band and the cracks are on all feet. The farrier is working hard to manage this but i'm thinking there is more i could do stop more appearing. Dont really want shoes on but will if necessary. He is no longer ridden but seems happy in the field. He is not lame so no infection yet but wet weather wont be far away! Anybody had similar problems or any good advice on what i can do would be much appeciated.
Thanks, Catherine
