Hiya, my horse has got some little cracks in his feet, some go quite far up and some not so far.(I should have got some photos but completely forgot again!) I want some suggestions of what to do with them and the best treatment for them please!

Thanks in advance! :)

My horse has pretty crap feet and had cracks, mainly on the front. My farrier suggested putting Kevin Bacon hoof dressing on daily. It's expensive, but I have noticed they are getting better after 3 weeks of religous use. It's made from animal fat, so it's not your typical hoof oil - more of a grease. I put it on every day before turning out. Only problem with it is that the yard dogs clearly think it smells delicious and want to come and lick it off his feet!!

Definitely speak to your farrier. He will be the best one to advise you.

Yep KB is essentially expensive lard.

The only answer to the problem that I found was addressing the diet and growing new hoof capsules with better quality horn and at the right angle (no flare or long toes/under-run heels). So basically grow healthy hooves.
