Cracked pads?

Has anyone got any ideas for feed/ supplements/ lotions and potions that would help feet and pads? New collie bitch has cracked a front pad and was leaving blood prints all over the shop last night 🙈

In hindsight I wonder if her others have been giving her a bit of trouble as she’s looked a bit ouchy on her feet a couple of times but I thought this had improved when I clipped her armpits and back legs/ groin area as she arrived very matted and I thought they were pulling on her as she moved.

I’ve possibly just taken her a bit hard/ fast as gone from no exercise (she had basically been living in the garden as deemed neurotic, I picked her up an hour before she was booked to be pts) no other problems with her really. I’ve had her nearly 5 months now though so thought they would have toughened up. She currently gets either skinners muesli mix or working 23 with salmon oil and normally either a bit of butchers wet food or half a tin of sardines or something on top. Many thanks

She's gorgeous! What a lucky girl.

Just a thought, my dog had chronically cracked pads when I first got him and eventually it turned out to be because of low B12 - after some jabs and an improved diet they resolved and it didn't happen again. If she hasn't been very well looked after before you got her it's a possibility - just in case you find it's a long-term issue!

Lovely girl 😍. Sounds like you saved her in the nick of time.

You could try Musher’s Secret paw wax on the pads until they’ve toughened up a bit but if they don’t improve I’d pop her along to the vet as it could be a sign of something else such as allergies or autoimmune issues.

Thanks for replies. I have ordered the mushers wax. And obviously will take her to the vets if it doesn’t improve. Does this look like a decent zinc supplement? https://yumove.co.uk/products/yuder...lgMFLvPBSVJs1Z5wmDeqLvgjwDbERWJhoCvpcQAvD_BwE

One of the others is on the yumove and does her the world of good so happy to go with that brand if people think it’s ok :)

Yumove doesn't say which form of zinc they use. Look for one containing zinc monomethionine which is a highly bioavailable form.

Edit.
Yumove contains zinc sulphate.
Dermazyme contains zinc methionine.

Zinc sulphate can cause gastrointestinal upset.

If I was buying I would go for the Dermazyme.
