Cracking hooves

As it says. He is totally sound but cracks appearing at toes on all four. He is barefoot. Only appeared last few weeks. A small chunk has chipped away. He usually has strong feet. Is it just this odd weather! Parched, the rain, then parched again and so on x

Toes usually crack off because the horse wants them shorter.

Mine has started cracking too, on the soles and chipping at the bottom end of the hooves. He usually have really sound and healthy hooves. My farrier has said it is nothing to worry about, he did the routine trimming and looks good as new. I am applying some daily ointment now and seems to be maintaining. Could be the odd weather.
