Cracks in hooves

I've noticed 1 or 2 cracks in my horses feet these past few days. He is barefoot & gets fed a couple of handfuls of hifi good doer in the evening. Our fields haven't been muddy despite all this rain luckily. I've got the farrier coming in a week to trim them anyway, is there anything you think i should add to his diet to help his feet?

(he's always been barefoot and is 8 now & generally has very good feet)

What sort of cracks? Do you mean sand cracks, eg, just coming up from the bottom, or cracks in the actual hoof wall not touching the base (can't remember name sorry!). Former I would round the edges of his hooves (mustang roll) so the cracks don't get any bigger. Later is more due to uneven strain/weakness so would speak to farrier about this.
