cradle bridles, what are they and what do they do?

This is what it says in the 1st paragraph if you Google "Cradle Bridle" Our cradle bridles come with a cradle headstall, a Parelli/Myler bit, and Finesse reins that you can customize for your horse’s specific personality to create a more confident horse and a relaxed riding experience. Good fit is important with a bridle – the more points that are activated on the horse’s head and mouth area, the less pressure it puts on every point. Our Cradle Bridle disperses pressure over five major points: tongue, bars, nose, chin and poll, which leads to a less defensive horse and more relaxed and open communication.

There is a section for FAQ but I think the above covers what they basically do.

Im not Parelli person but putting pressure elsewhere on the head is better than it all in one place , in the mouth which is so sensitive . I assume the pressure will come in to action in different places depending on how much "conversation" you have with your reins . Ask the lady that has one . If her horses are going nicely and happily it carnt be all bad . You dont ask you dont find out .

I would say def have a talk to her . You may find bits of what she has done may be very suitable for your horse . Its a case of ask lots of questions , observe , talk to people then see what suits you and your horse . We and our horses are all individuals and what I may not like or think my horse likes may not be so.

It is just a pretty western headstall with a myler bit, with a bit of string attaching the noseband to the browband. I would be interested to learn if the browband slips down because of this.

Saying nothing about the price because I have spent that on a bridle before now.

Enfys I used to have one and didn't have a problem with the browband slipping. The string is actually quite a clever idea to stop the noseband slipping.
You know I used to have lessons with Anna Ross Davies and she advised me to put my horse in a myler combination to help her understand contact. It actually worked really well. Seems to me the parellis have just mass marketed this approach.

The bit is a Parelli cradle bit . Im a big fan of the Myler Combination as you get pressure everywhere else before you get any pressure within their mouth , and when you think about it most horses are brought up with poll pressure or nose pressure from the day a headcollar is put on them .

The video is rather bizarre as it just tells you its easy to change the bit and the parelli logo part at the top lets you tie the nose band up. Right oh!

I have one and it's a great bit of kit, horses that are trained to pressure and release go well in it as it acts on the mouth last. Parelli itself might be a marketing machine but it would be wrong to automatically rule out their equipment because of the name. Much of it is of excellent quality.
