I was going to but an elevator bridle BUT have read on here that the Heritage bridles are half the price and just as good, I can only find the crank ones, I currently just use a cavesson bridle, is it true that the crank gives a more even pressure on the nose? or should I find a comfort cavesson bridle?

If your horse has a fine head then crank bridles neither look so good or are as functional as they tend to be bulky and force the bit rings to lie at an angle to the side of the face, sometimes causing pressure sores. There is also a danger of over tightening. I bought an FSS comfort cavasson for my TB and he looks lovely in it as well as being very comfortable. I made sure it was oiled several times before use. My crank comfort cavasson was twice as expensive (a Sabre) and he wasn't as comfortable due to the noseband/bit problem.

I have smart bog standard flash noseband which my horse hates as it straps his mouth shut. He got very headshy, even after teeth were done, so I decided it was uncomfortable for him and I got him a comfort bridle with a crank which he MUCH prefers. It's a JB and the same as the Heritage ones, off ebay. I can tighten it as necessary but actually haven't needed to, as he is much more accepting of the contact and less evasive in it. I have even started taking the flash off for hacking. Much happier horse in this bridle.

Or maybe he just took umbrage at having his mouth strapped shut!!!!

I have had a couple of cheaper alternatives to the elevator and none habe come closer ( when I say cheaper I mean a £102 Frank Baines and a JB and while nice the fact I could roll my Elevator in my hands it was so soft!)

Elevator all the way for me.

I've had nothing but Heritage or Rheingold (same style) crank bridles for ten years on ten or more different horses.

I have never had a rubbing or a bit interference problem.

And I haven't personally felt that anyone is standing behind my back with a gun threatening to shoot me unless I do it up tighter. They are as tight as you buckle them, and no more!

Heritage bridles are exceptional value for money.
