Had a lesson yesterday and noticed after warming up that Osk had a bloody sore rubbed patch on his cheek. Got off, and found that the noseband had slipped down and was trapping his mouth against the bradoon ring. Its an Anky rolled double but is really quite old now. The stitching on the noseband has come loose and it is drooping, and where it does up over the poll the rolled bits are unraveling. Poor Oskar. Anyway, now that he's no longer going to be sent to the "special place for naughty broken ponies", and is actually behaving like a dressage horse, I guess its time he had his own bridle.

So, recommendations please! Double bridle, black, billets (hate buckles, sorry). Preferred rolled but that's not vital. Thick padded noseband a preference. Padded crown if possible. Don't mind paying a bit extra for the right bridle. THANKS!!

I have the Hubertus Schmidt (Passier) Double - not rolled, and it is LURVERLY! My boy goes fantastically well in it x

Got mine from Classic Dressage and it arrived within a couple of days!

I'd get one made then you can have exactly what you want and make sure all measurements are correct!
I wouldn't go for rolled as they are alot more expensive due to how they are stitched and to get really good quality you have to pay alot of £.
I would ask your local saddler if they can source a bridle maker and get some costs and see from there.....

I love my Albion KB. Its not rolled but has a gorgeous thick padded noseband & headpiece and the quality of the leather is excellent

I like the look of the Hubertus Schmidt one, and like the KB as well but have heard that they stretch? I need to take measurements too as horse has an odd head

. Thanks everyone!

Blitz has the Albion it's lovely

hasn't stretched... yet

Albion are quite good as you can mix and match which works if you have a horse with strange measurements like Diva who needs a cob noseband but full everything else

We had some Albion ones at work, i found them irritating as the noseband has a buckle on either side.
I would recommend Equiport, they will be able to make one, within reason to your requirements and from the bridles i have seen very good quality.

not quite what you want but they do mix and match to make each bridle.

I have the Albion KB Snaffle and it hasn't stretched - I love it but it's a bit too chunky for a double - prefer the HS double as it's a little bit finer (posher looking if you know what I mean).... also love the adjustable bit at the top of the HS so you don't have loads of buckles on the side of their face!

Don't know if its still there, but last time I went into Think tack at keysoe (couple of weeks ago), they had a passier double bridle reduced from around £700 to £300 or £400.

I think it was rolled, but didn't look too closely cos not looking for a double

they do send by post so it might be worth giving them a call
