I'm having issues with my horses mane. A couple of years ago I pulled it from shoulder length and for a while it stayed flat and lovely. It has now decided to stand upright and nothing I do seems to make a difference. I have tryed growing it longer again and last night just pulled the underneath half so there was weight on the top to keep it over, but the underneath bit now just sticks up and the longer bit goes to the other side of her neck. She is a welsh cob so her mane is really thick and quite coarse. I have also tryed plaiting it over, using a thinning comb, wetting it and putting a hood on over night and nothing works. She looks like a scruffy little thelwell pony! Any tips?

ooh am worried about frank's now! - his looked like this after first pull in june (he was hogged 4 years ago when I bought him) it is really coarse too, but seems to be ok still at the moment, I did second pull last week.

How long have you left it to grow out longer?

It does seem to get a bit fluffy and rarely sits on one side but not a major issue as I pulled it mostly because he was getting too hot

Aniseed's mane does look a bit like Frank's, really thick but probably slightly shorter. I left it to grow for about 3 months since I last pulled it. I couldn't hog her she would look awful!

The only reason I'm really bothered is that I'm cubbing tomorrow and I don't want her looking scruffy. I have plaited it over this weekend and she will have a rug with a neck oon tonights so fingers crossed it may stay on the right side.
