Would you have been cross?

Went riding last sunday, had a nice ride on the moors-both horsies and riders had fun. Then get back to near the stables (big dual carriageway and roundabout) and see 2 students (I'm guessing art students) carrying what looked like an ironing board-and later reveiled itself to be a mirror-as the turned it around and started taking photo-what the heck!?
Of course nedsies thought it was the most scary thing ever, I can't believe the lack of horse sorry I mean common sense that some people have!!
Thank goodness no-one was hurt!!

Breakfast choccie biccies for reading all that!!

I'm sure it would have been spooky for your horses (one of ours would have been sure it would eat her!) but I think that when you are out in public spaces you must be aware that you can't control all you might come across and you can't expect members of the public to have the slightest clue that a mirror might be a scary thing for a horse. Just one of those things unfortunatly.

Agreed, since meeting u with non-horsey OH, it amazes me how much people don't know. He had no idea the unpredictability of horses, how spooky they can be etc. People don't have the knowledge we have regarding horses and expect behaviours to be similar to other animals such as dogs etc.

Even when I started riding, my parents had no idea what horses are actually like.

Hope you and horse are recovered and enjoy your next hack.

Yep, it's incredible how little sense about animals some people have,

My ex-OH hadn't so much as had a pet dog in his life and came with me to the stables a few times. He was terrified of every single horse and spent the whole time avoiding getting touched by a bit of hay/mud/horse hair.

Haha that's like mine, I'm trying to break him in gently though!!!
On the hack yesterday went past a chap drilling and I asked if he minded briefly pausing whilst we passed, I know we have to be aware of the unexpected out when hacking-but surely even non horsey people might realise when their actions cause horses to dance on one hoof-that the should be mindful of horses. I wish that advert on tv was still on-about passing horses wide and slow!!
