What’s your go to cream for every day cuts and things like that? Oldie seems to have been in the wars lately, probably with the help of youngster I may add. My staple is plain old Sudocrem for cuts or Aloe Vera Gel for swollen bits. Anything superior on the shelves these days?

Most minor things clean with salty water and leave to the fresh air, creams can cause issued attracting dirt etc.
Sometimes I use manuka or local honey if it needs more of a cover

I use Filtabac. It's not gunky and forms a second skin type of seal over the wound and allows it to breath. I went to an equine first aid seminar at the RVC a few years ago and the vets were scathing about Sudocreme. I've not used it since.

I use the same as you OP, except I put white pepper in the cut before the sudocreme. My dad swore by white pepper to stop scaring. Seems to work so I continue. i do get odd looks having white pepper in my first aid kit mind!
How interesting! Thank yoi

Oh. Might patch the Sudocrem then…! I had heard it was drying but I still think it’s pretty good go to. It seems to soothe any itch or irritation too.

Completely forgot I had some Red Horse HoneyHeel… I’m a bit wary of Filtabac as a friend had a bad batch and her horse ended up in vet school with severe cellulitis after using it. She got recompensed and the batch got pulled but I’m still skeptical.

I use the silver/zinc oxide spray or cream or the propolis gel it's got honey in it, both from leovet I rate and use alot of there products.

I hate sudocrem it's awful stuff I used it many years ago and I'm sure it caused Arabi's hair to fall out.

I often will buy a tube of savlon and use that on the horses as well.

Always silver spray. Don’t use creams if a wound as always find they get big legs if not careful as holds dirt etc. If I need to deter flies I use Vicks over the top.

Same as you OP, sudocream. Or a bit of aloe gel if it’s dried over. If my little Welsh is being particularly pathetic, I do sometimes have to resort to ‘take aim and purple spray’

My old horse had a puncture wound that we put sudocream on and the vet told us off as he had to flush it before stitching it, I avoid it now for anything other than sunburn.
