Creative things for building jumps

What sort of things do you use at the yard to build different jumps?

My mare is learning to jump and today I lunged her over a fence with a barrel under it and she jumped it really nicely and respected it as it was different… I’m now looking for other things I can use to test her and get her thinking.

Tarpaulins underneath like water tray or hung over the pole. Umbrellas, pot plants, coloured feed buckets

Rug hung over a pole, buckets upside down under a pole. We used to use anything that came to hand, old doors lent on a cavaletti were a favourite.

Artificial grass over a filler or small bale.

Make some sleeves for poles out of any colourful material to hand or which can be acquired cheaply.

You could add some fringes to the sleeve too for a bit of extra interest.

Build a couple of jump stands & buy rustic poles about 8 feet long and have those between to stands. You can make fillers from pallets. Paint comes off easily so use the preservative that's used on garden sheds & garden furniture. A piece of blue tarpaulin under a jump can simulate water. If you have tyres lying around use them a fillers. There's normally somewhere where things are discarded ready to be burned at a yard, check that area out & you'll find things to use.

You can use then inside out for a plain filler or the right way out for patterned

Cones on top of things also look weird and are good for jumping. i usually put them on cavalletti blocks under jumps.
