All the negative comments about the NFU to which I have been part of. Just like to say although I'm not happy with the price increase, I'm very happy with the prompt way they have settled my recent claim. Seems maybe they are back on the ball.

Just had my renewal through and mines gone up rather a lot. Have to say I have had good service from them with my claim this year but the renewal figure is a bit expensive. Worrying when the horse insurance costs more than our 2 cars put together!

The trouble is, i know a specialist equine vet thats first question is always 'Is the horse insured'. Its that attitude that pushes up the premiums. The vets milk the insurance, meaning the horse gets less treatment as there is a £ limit per incident/condition and the owners premiums also go up. The vets win! The insurance company get their money back somehow. I honestly believe there are too many vets taking the piss with the bill if the horse is insured. And owners are too silly to question it because they arent paying. But they do in the end.

That is so true, but also the insurance companies are partly to blame. I asked them if I could buy Metacam off the Internet with a prescription from my vet. It was substantially cheaper, they said no I had to buy it off my vet. I thought everyone was all for saving money, not them it seems :-(

Too true!! So much appears on invoices that you can't recall horse getting some of the medications etc. All bumped on for insurance milking, great when your claims are being paid but not so good when you have lots of exclusions now :( I no longer have insurance and the vet is raging :)
