Bit of a grim post ...

But how much roughly does it cost to have a horse put to sleep by vet then disposed of by cremation/ashes returned?

I've been quoted £530 for body disposal and return of ashes.

Or £339 for body disposal but no ashes returned.

+ vet fees on top!

Probably too far away but Yorkshire Equine Crem (Huddersfield)charged me £190 to come out Sunday evening, wait while vet did job and remove the body for cremation, last July. We didn't want the ashes back.
And because I was so confuddled that I couldn't find my cheque book, she just asked me to ring with my card number the day after.

They have always been very professional, we usually ask them to shoot but the vet was attending anyway this time. Sorry that you will need their services.

SO sorry you are on this situation. I have been in the unfortunate position of using Leyland twice recently, and they are so professional, and make a horrid situation just a little easier to deal with xx

I used leyland in 2006. It was £400 for them to collect him (we're about 50 miles from them) & cremate him individually. It must have gone up since then. Im sorry you've jade to ask :( x

Im not sure on price as i cant remember but i used leyland too. Very professional and comapasionate. I had him burried with a headstone and my dog is also burried in the same polt. So anyone going to Leyland, walk past the wishing well on your left and Simon and Malic and on the last row to your left to the far right of the stones. Give thenm a kiss from mummy xx Sorry your in this situation xx

£339..is too high...amount... looking for some discount... rather than cremation we can try greener way of cremation ... body liquefaction...

Out of interest, having just read an article on Human Liquefacation & liquid nitrogen freeze drying, what is the difference in costs between a normal cremation and a liquefacation??

I would definately recommend Leyland, we use them at work (Vets), and I also had them when my boy was put to sleep.
They were very professional and made sure he was treated with the utmost dignity, couldn't thank them enough.
Think it was approx £400 for ashes returned but that was a couple of years ago now.

has that liquefaction post gone? I was stirred into googling it but from what i can deduce it doesn t seem available in the uk yet.. at least for humans.
It reckoned that the wobbly bits would turn to a brown fluid which would be dna free and safe to dispose of and the bones would get ground up.. like they do with cremation.
OOps sorry got a bit into it!
