Cribbing

I have noticed Nova cribbing on the wooden fence today. I’ve never noticed her doing it before so not sure if it’s a one-off thing or a habit. She does get a bit stressed in the rain and she was left out in it today and she wasn’t given her morning hay. Not sure if these could contribute?

I’ve never had a horse who cribs so I really don’t know anything about it. She is a TB and I know they’re prone to it.

Is it a sign of ulcers? I know it can cause colic and ulcers. I am thinking of getting her scoped soon anyway as she’s not showing any drastic signs of ulcers but there’s a few little things that make me think “maybe”.

I am a bit worried - partly because she’s ruining the fence and partly because I just generally want her to be as comfortable as possible!

Yes cribbing can be a sign of ulcers so I'd get her scoped. If I remember rightly she's an exracer(?) so there's a higher chance of her having them.
Eta missing her hay could mean her ulcers would be more painful as there's less in her stomach to act as a buffer against the stomach acid.

I thought as much. I will get her scoped then - as much as I don’t like putting them through that. She has a pretty ulcer friendly lifestyle but that makes sense re missing hay this morning especially with her field a bit more flooded than normal
