Thanks

I had one, he was a lovely temperament when you were on the floor, but he was as long as a week and hard to get going nicely on the flat, he also had an attitude problem when jumping XC and was not the eventing schoolmaster he was described as

Generally I have heard that CL offspring are lovely though, so I am not saying they will all be like that

i bred two, both stunning looking horses.
the first wasn't easy, he was the most difficult horse i've ever had to break, sharp as a bag of nails. tons of talent though. unfortunately i lost him before he even got to an event - he had surgery for colic, pulled through slowly, then got colic again about 8 months later and i lost him. he'd done 1 hunter trial, found it very easy and jumped everything perfectly first time, and 1 sj round (ditto). gutting, he was a proper "look of the eagles" horse and had oodles of ability.
his full brother was easy peasy in every way, but he was a really bad headshaker and therefore never made it to an event either... i tried everything to cure it or alleviate the symptoms and eventually gave up and had him pts at about age 11. utterly gutting too.
both had very good temperaments and could probably have gone far if they hadn't been so unlucky.

My mare is by Primitive Proposal out of a Criminal Law mare (so a slightly 'distant' relative) - however I think she shows the classic Criminal Law traits.

She has a lovely temperament but is very sharp, both on the ground and to ride, she can be a bit of a Drama Queen! Beautiful looking and moves very well. She's only 5 but is currently showing potential in everything she does - I'm taking it very slowly with her, she's not one to be rushed ('patience' is becoming my keyword!)

My stallion is by Crim. but out of a Krisinsky mare, so although dark in colour the rest of him is much more like mum. Most of them I have bred or met by Crim are more similar to mum than dad with a lot of senstivity which seems to be the common Criminal Law trait. That said my boy is a lot scopier than his mum, although she got to 3* so was no mug!

I have had mine since he was 3 mths old, he is now 13. His mother was by Lord David S, so true Louella horse.
He came with the name Timmy, but soon became known as Sir, as in "what would Sir like to do next?". This WASNT his fault.

He has a temperament to die for, he will look after any member of my family in any situation, when my son was 2 days old Sir pushed him round the field in his pushchair, chasing away other horses and dogs, but pulling Ewans mum (Alwaysbroke) towards Ewan and I. He is a fantastic nanny horse and has helped me escort many babies on busy roads and xc schooling. Ewan as a baby would ride on front of the saddle with me and fall asleep while we went round the fields. Ewan, now 6 is able to ride Sir in the school (Sir is 17hh), in walk and trot one ear is always fixed on me to make sure he is doing the right thing.
Ok a few years ago he was a bit "ditchy", but has overcome that. Has competed at BE intro and pre novice, but funds have limited us continuning

Sir is my horse of a life time, and I know I will miss him when he has to go not only for his help with young and daft horses but he is my mate. Much to my amusement he does take the mick out of AB and Fairy cakes just because he can and always with a smile on his face!! AB says when we lose him she will have him stuffed get rid of the furniture and keep him in the lounge! He may not have a long illustrious competion history, but is worth his weight in gold.
We have a mare who is born on the same day as Sir (1st April 1996) she was born in Kentucky, him in Leicestershire, we did try to put her in foal to Crim, but he was coming to the end of his breeding days so unfortunatly didnt catch.
Would certainly have another by Crim.

Thats brilliant to hear, thanks everyone.. mines has a few stable vices and doesnt like being left alone, but hes SO loving and will do anything foryou when you get his trust.. And when your on him hes AMAZING so lovely to hear such good things

I rode one for several years, she was always v sharp and quirky and eventually was retired, we were convinced something was wrong somewhere as she eventually became worse and worse and would crab sideways when asked to canter and squeal, unfortunately the owner did not want to investigate as the horse was not insured.
