Her ladyship is 5 in a couple of weeks. She’ll be lightly backed this summer. She’s off to her very first Actual Competition next weekend, an In Hand class at a Winter League Trec😃. Last weekend she went to a liberty clinic and was a very good girl and did me proud.

We’ve come a long way in the last couple of years or so and she hasn’t been easy, although her medical issues made things very much harder (stifle injury, surgery, long rehab, ulcers, selenium deficiency…infected mud fever….failed gate jumping cuts and abrasions…🤯🙄). She’s been a bolshy, angry, wily teenager but she’s made me smile every day and laugh most days. Since New Year we’ve walked about 50 miles together, just the two of us. Happy times, and hopefully a sign of what’s to come. She’s grown into a really lovely solid character, who is curious about the world and trusts me enough to leave the herd and come with me to discover it.

Not to put too fine a point on it - I love the bones of her.

Hi guys, very sadly I lost my girl on Monday, absolutely loved the bones of her my heart is broken and I am just trying to take stock and thinking if I want a break from horses but I don’t think I do. Friends are trying to help and sending me lovely sounding horses but I only want a criollo. My girl was so dependable, I could hack her bareback I just loved being with her and having fun, I’m not interested in jumping I just want a horse I can have a bond with and enjoy each other. Are there any about these days? I have seen there are some in Germany but just looking for contacts please. I have also registered with an ex polo poly charity incase they have any Argies. Don’t mind if loan either if anyone hears of anything.

I’m sorry for your loss :(

There’s a breeder near me if you fancy a foal? Their FB page is Camp Criollo uk. They might know of adult ones available too, as they tend to deal a bit as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your pics (earlier in this thread) show what a lovely horse Pantera was. She looked so beautiful and sensible. You must be totally devastated, they are so special.
Can't help but I hope you can find a new friend.

Thank you, I am absolutely devastated she was quite simply stunning and so intelligent, we could read each other like a book. She was very much more human than horse and treated me like one of her herd and I will forever treasure her memory.

So sorry to hear you lost your girl. My Criollo is getting on in years now 😕

My daughter recently sent me a pic of a lovely Criollo at Camp Criollo so it’s good to know that they’re still being sold in the UK. I hope you find another one.

I have an Argi ex polo pony, pretty sure she's part Criollo. I found her by putting a wanted ad on a FB group named Chukkout Polo, there's lots of traffic on there and it would be a good idea to have a read through before posting yourself.

Just to report back, I follow a few Criollo enthusiasts in mainland Europe and discovered an association, the https://www.criollo-crzvd.de/ , anyway found out they have a festival once a year where they all meet to socialise showcase and enjoy their horses. There are breeders there and owners alike. Anyway, after not having a holiday in years I went to this years one, it was held in a fantastic venue which was a hotel with a conference and equestrian centre. Wow what a lovely bunch of people, met many breeders and have confirmed that if I am ever lucky enough to own again, it will be a criollo. I’m spending some time still taking stock and also saving up some money so if and ready I feel ready , I can just do it. Hope you guys are all enjoying yours and not getting too wet and just wanted to reiterate how awesome the breed is.

I'm doing a ride across the Andes in Jan - partly on Argentine Peruvian Paso's and partly on Chilean Criollos. I cant wait- I rode an amazing Criollo in argentina 5 years or so ago on a riding holiday and I've never forgotten her. The surefootedness and the intelligence which allows them to take stock of a situation, realise its no big deal and just carry on is so refreshing.
