2 months ago I decided to take the plunge and take my mares shoes off. She wasnt footy at all, and seems to be moving better without them :)

However, even after reading up on hooves I am still clueless as to spotting the problems or anything really of interest to note.

Plus she has always had a bulge in her front right near the top, which has never caused her any problems, and according to her previous owners who had her since 6 months she's had it for a long time, but would like to have some idea what caused it please

Anyways hope these photos are good :) :

Sorry they are so big :/

Also her diet is low sugar, low starc, high fibre

So how do they look please

Solid feet!!

Great start for 2 months.

She still has bullnose hinds. They should be gone within six months. If they don't go, look at possible mineral balance problems with your forage/grazing or too much grass.

Contracted heels, but nothing too severe and don't worry about them. They may broaden in time but they can take a looooong time. My dressage boy is 2 years plus and only just losing his contraction.

Well done!

They are really really good feet. Once the nail holes have grown out you will have as near perfect hooves as it is possible to have I think.

I would be very happy with those hooves.

Walls shining, healthy and strong. Good straight growth from the top.

Hinds bull nosed - should grow out over the next few months.

Soles look a decent thickness.

Frogs are still weak and hiding up in the heels. Back part of the hoof contracted.

Put some mileage on the hooves and see the frogs lengthen at the tip and pop out, flush with the heels.

This is a pic of a healthy BF frog
