We went to Crockstead today for some Amateur Champs classes....90cms with Trike, and 1m and then 1.10m with Bo
Well, we arrived at 10:45am expecting them to be well on their way to the end of class 1.....but the lorry park was brimming when we arrived and they had only jumped about 3 in the first class ! The clear round must have been packed
Good for them though as they don't always get the support they deserve
Anyway, we walked the 90cm qualifier and tbh, the track looked pretty straight-forward and not particularly up to height....but then courses often don't jump well there, so nobody really knew what to expect. Trike warmed okay, not quite as sharp as the previous weekend at Golden Cross, and not sure he was entirely happy with the new 'water feature' in the warm-up
We jumped near the end of the class, and give him credit, he jumped a really sweet round...and went clear
There were 15 in the JO, and we were drawn 9th to go. Five had gone DC by the time we went, so we knew we had to have a bit of a go. He seemed to have gone to sleep a little while waiting, and the round didn't start great when he landed on the wrong leg for the first two turns
Bottom line was he lost impulsion in the second turn and so rather than risk crashing him through the double, I turned and gave him a decent shot at it. He then had another pole later in the round for 8 faults. Oh well, he jumped a nice first round so no complaints really
Bo came out for the 1m qualifier and after the antics of the previous two weekends, aa good performance with no silliness was all we were after ! He warmed up very well, and just felt like the old Bo again
He jumped the nicest round i could have imagined and was just soooo unlucky to roll the first of the double that was the last fence
I wasn't too disappointed though as he had jumped in such a lovely rhythm all the way round.
So, as he had gone well in the 1m, we decided to go for the 1.10m
Again, he jumped a smashing round....and once again just rolled a single pole coming down a fairly technical related distance
It feels so good to have the old Bo back though....he was jumping with confidence and jumping big
I feel a lot more confident about the Star qualifier coming up in a fortnight now too
Bumped into Flower and Chloe while we were there too which was nice
