Took Hattie today to do the discovery. Negotiated the Crockstead "lake" very successfully in the warm up arena

and yup as usual the entries were veerrryyy low but....

we won it!!! and a win is a win i guess:o

Just every so often i get a stark reminder that she is only 5 1/2 and im pretty inexperienced and it goes a little belly up (like in the warm up arena occasionally etc. ) we are getting there but we'll take it steady!!

wish we could say that about the eventing season which is non existent to say the least!!! the weather needs a kick up the backside so we can all go out and compete!!

I was going to go to Crockstead today but poor Shad has mud fever and her legs are a bit swollen so we thought it wasn't a good idea to go SJing.

- thing is, feels really strange as there were so few in the class it didnt feel right winning it with a pretty ordinary/not great round!! - it feels soo much better when there are 30 in the class and you've earned the placing

im very good a bashing myself down and beating myself up about somethings that could have gone better and not kind of sitting back and enjoying a good days competing!!

Exactly!! Don't beat yourself down especially when im sitting here with no horse to ride at the moment (unknown lameness but he is getting better) wishing I was out there competiting! You are doing really well and should have a fab year.

Actually this is something that im concerned about too!! When i go to Munstead, my intention is to just get through the dressage and sj being well behaved....then IF we make it to xc, just see how it goes. could go horribly wrong at that point! Visions of not being able to leave the start box as mare is soooo nappy! *starting to panic!!*

Oh dear, sounds like we may all have an interesting munstead! If we get through the dressage without getting over excited about the prospect of jumping, and then get through the sj without having a panic attack about the arena being so small, we may be ok xc!! x

well i probably wont BSJA her again really until the end of the eventing season as there isnt enough time to do both

but hopefully by this time next year if all goes to plan (which it never does

) we'll be moving up to newcomers. We both need LOADS more experience before that though!!!
