I don't understand all the in's and outs of the laws/rules/regs relating to crofts etc. But seems an idyllic spot to me? Skye is one of the most beautiful Scottish islands, and yes it may rain Cahill but it is always popular with tourists pretty much year round I understood?

Now if I won the lottery I would love to buy something like that and just be far away from the crowds wth our family and horses. Bliss...

There are those here that describe a croft as a small piece of land surrounded by regulations and it can feel like that at times!

the link is to a series of house plots that are being carved out of a croft, something that is happening rather a lot at present; there are owner occupied or tenanted crofts advertised - if you google Skye Property you will get the main estate agents, or try Highland Solicitors Property Centre. legal advice and a good read of the Crofters Commission website are helpful!

you'd need to have a horse that doesn't spook at traffic as single track roads used by tourists, many of them foreign can make it interesting to say the least - was nearly off my motorbike last year at the hands of one near my house.

But it's tourist friendly and one of the most beautiful places going even when it's raining like today! Quiet in January and Feb but the season will start again in March
