Crofton Manor - worth the trip?

Trying to find some decent unaff SJ to go to this weekend and sadly cannot find anything local that I know will be properly built. I see there is BS on at Crofton Manor on the Saturday and then unaff on the Sunday, however its a good 1.5-2 hour drive and having never been there before I'd like to know if its worth the drive!

Does anyone know if the unaff on the Sunday is over the BS course from the day before? I can't get on the Crofton Manor site at work so can't see the set up - is it indoors or out? Whats the warm up like? Anyone got any pics or links to pro pics that will show the set up?

Most importantly - is there a burger van and is it any good? :)
 
Crofton is a FAB venue, the problem is you never know what jumps/warm up they will use!

It should say on the schedule if warm up is outside. Usually it is.

I'm guessing they will probably have a clear round course in their indoor and then the main course outside in their stunning Olympic sized outdoor arena maybe with BS fences.

It really does depend, sometimes for unaff they split their outdoor in half and use half for the course and half for the warm up.

They have tons of arenas though. The only time I dislike crofton is when they use their pokey outdoor arena behind a hedge as the warm up. It's too small in there.

I would call them to double check but I would say it should be worth the trip. Their newish outdoor arenas especially the big one are really stunning to ride on :).
 
There are quite a few shows on this weekend in Surrey, which area are you nearest too.... Coz I know Felbridge is on which is near East Grinstead and that is unaffilated, however the wait it sometimes a pain!

I've only been there once with a friend doing BSJA but it was lovely! Says on the schedule that the warm up and classes are outdoors, and the clear round (£3 per round, runs at the same height as the classes) is indoors. The arenas are lovely and big, and the warm up was a very good size.

In terms of classes (stop me if you've seen this) they've got 75-80cm, 85cm, 90cm and 1m - all two phase :D

We are in Guildford - ideally looking for unaff over BS standard courses to give us some practise be fore we go BS. Didn't know about Felbridge, will google that now, thanks! :)

It shouldn't take you that long from g'ford with the hindhead tunnel, as it's straight down the A3 which turns into the M27, it's
not a difficult journey :).
 
Crofton can be very twist as lots of the BSJA ponies go there, so time will also be tight. You will spend hours there, at least 2 hours for most classes. I don't think they run over BS course because they change the course alot each class. The canteen is very good, there is also a tack shop if that is your kind of thing. The areans are nice and there is very good parking. But you really will be there for hours.
 
I am very lucky to have crofton as one of my closest venues :)

They always build good courses - unaff. and aff., outside they were using jump 4 joy jumps for the unaffiliated but they used the bs jumps for a rc unaf there on saturday, and I would imagine that they will just leave out the bs jumps.

The warm up will be in the outdoor olympic-sized school, (the pokey school that firewell talks about has been demolished), and the classes will definitely be in the indoor. They usually run clear round there at the same time, but I don't know about this in the winter and its been a long time since I've been to an unaf. there. The indoor is really bright and although not massive, more than enough room and the courses compliment the size.

The cafe is nice and does good food, although you usually have to be quick to get a table when someone leaves (especially one overlooking the arena!)
 
Crofton is my local venue too and I am so lucky as it really is the best. I go for Dressage but went this saturday for the RC event and it was my boys first ever time jumping indoors. It was so exciting and fun to jump the BS jumps, here is a link to the pro photo's form the weekend if you want a looksy:
