Hi, I'm genuinely feeling down right now and my riding has gotten so bad, feel really unbalanced and crooked when I ride and I know there's people that have worse but wondering if anyone has experience of it or know what could be happening. The whole right panel on the saddle has flattened. My left seat bone is floating and my left shoulder is higher. My left glute is weaker and my right leg is always more forward. I can't keep my left thigh on the saddle. I have tried to fix it by being aware, pilates, no stirrups etc. and I still have problems. I tried to strengthen my left glute aswell but it made me feel more wonky. I tried using shims under my left seat bone and it levelled my pelvis but then my body was tipping over to the right. My horses take uneven contact. I've had this for a few years since breaking my left ankle and it's getting worse and I have thought about going to physio but I have genuine anxiety. If anyone could give advice it would be very appreciated thank you in advance

I have a friend who is great at this type of thing. She has a Racewood simulator but also gives you the exercises to help build the right strength. My friend is based in Cheshire but if that's not near you look for anywhere that offers lessons on a simulator.

If Cheshire works for you PM me and I'll send you a link to her business.

You need to find someone that does rider biomechanics clinics they work on symmetry for you and the horse, the equine sports massage lady I use runs them in Hertfordshire but I'm sure lots of people do them.

If you Google Leah Clarke sports massage Hertfordshire her clinics are on her website then see I'd you can find similar in your area, or contact her she might know someone that does similar.

I became aware of having difficulty in using my left seat bone, tended to slip to the right and found it difficult to use my left leg as effectively as my right one. I do two pilates classes a week with an excellent teacher who is a trained physio, she said she could see I was crooked with my pelvis rotated to the left. I had one session with a physio, who identified that I was unable to use my left glutes, she did some massage and gave me some exercises to do at home and I am pleased to say I am so much straighter. fwiw I slipped over last December, broke my left wrist and damaged my left hand, what I hadn't thought about was I had also fallen on my left hip/seat and this has left some damage from the impact. I'd suggest seeing a good physio to have an assessment, I just wish I had done this sooner!

Don't feel anxious about going to a physio. Find one that does horses and humans and they'll understand what you're saying. You might find an equine Pilates class nearby too.
