hi,

i need some help on making cross country like jumps out of normal show jumping poles and wings in our school, ive been looking on the internet and cant find a site that shows pictures on how to set them up or what they should look like... can anyone post me pictures or give me a link to follow??

many thanks kim

if you have 2 large blocks and 2 smaller blocks place them in a rectangle like so...

large block ______________ small block

small block ______________ large block

and then place a pole going diagonally across the small blocks and another pole going diagonally across the large blocks.

Think that make sense, can't think of the name of the fence though. My RI has done it before + deff seemed to make the horse think.

oh yeah i get that, thank you.. ill give that a try tomorrow

For corners used 1 wing one side and two the other end and attach poles. You can then make them anysize you want and how wide you want them!!! Also many places now sell jump wings for lunging that you can make bigger/smaller without worring about the lunge line catching, and you can get a double cup attachment to make a corner.
Coffins easy to do as well, upright, plastic sheet on floor and then another upright.
Have big barrels which I spot around the arena and jump, also if horse doin big stuff put 3 together in a triangle and jump it like that!! (yes very scary and have to be acurate but brave!)
Have old wooden gate to, which lie on floor and jump or stick upright to jump.
I also break twigs of trees out of hedge and stick all over fences so they get use to this. Also stick along top of ences, so bit like bullfinch/brush.
Also I generally use lots of poles to 'guide' the horses in and over the fences, especially the skinnys (and corners when they start), if they learn straight away to also go over they *hopefully* always go straight over without any then!!!
Hope this kinda makes sense!
