I'm looking for a good x-country schooling place that have fences that you jump into water, or a stride off it and skinnies and maybe skinny doubles.

I'm in Ely, Cambs. I don't want to go to Ely Eventing as my horse knows that place all too well, so want to go somewhere different to give her something to look at.

Sorry that doesn't help much as i don't want to just know of courses in my area, i want to know about Pacific fences such as shinnies and water fences being the most important which is why i asked if anybody has been anywhere it might be a good place for me to go to as my horse has developed a thing about not jumping into water. Thanks anyway

Hi Sarah, have you been to the UK Chasers course in Elveden. There's not much there but it's local, it's cheap, there's a water with several options including a little log before and various skinny logs etc. Alternatively there's Forest Edge but I have no idea what's on their XC course.

There is a facebook page with pictures of lots of unaffiliated courses, I think there's link to that in CR.

Or I think you can school at Yew Tree Farm, Harlton but whether you need Val Gingell with you I'm not sure and I also have no idea again what's there.

Actually, I'm about as much use as a chocolate teapot:(

Oh, hang on, Keysoe? good build up from slope into water, drops into water and smallish jumps into water IIRC. Not sure about bigger stuff because I wouldn't have dared to try it.

Ickworth Park also springs to mind, again I don't know what's on it and it's a blighter to buy tickets, IIRC you have to get them from Lavenham. Carlton is a bit light on water, Blackwater Farm at Gt Witchingham has just the one complex IIRC but both are good because of the hills that are so sadly lacking local to us!

Yes Blackwater just sprung to mind, but they don't have many photos so can't really tell. Carlton, again my mare knows the course too well so she will jump all.

I could probably rustle up a couple of willing volunteers if you've still got schooling vouchers for EEC and if Tina would let you do something like borrow some of her showjumps and set up some SJ's on the approaches and the brink. It would give her (the mare, not Tina) something different to look at at least. I could probably rustle up a spare schooling voucher for you as well.

Someone did suggest that to me yesturday. I don't know if that would work as she will jump any of the fences into the water at Ely, plus they are not solid so don't know if it would still have the same effect.
