If you are going to get one, get a decent one. Made for the job, big display, Bleeps on the minute markers etc.... I have one like this, it is great & going to do Milton Keynes 3DE this weekend with a friend. I use it more for fitness work at home than at comps. I tend to find that I cant do time at Intermediate anyway, therefore a watch telling me how slow I am doesnt help much.

How do you use it training wise at home?

I live near the sea & most of my fittening canter work is on the shore. I have an absolutely brilliant bit with even sand ( no boggy bits & no stones). However, its miles & miles with very little in the way of landmarks. Therefore to judge how much/far I have been I use a watch & canter for 3 mins, walk for 3 min etc, etc. It just adds a bit of structure to our fittening plan. Its still not exactly science as my speed tends to vary a bit. However, my horse has finished full of running even after some quite hilly, long Intermediate tracks so I guess I must be doing something right!

I have the one in the link for sale if you are interested- I have used it once but you would never know, it still has the screen protector on and is in the tin it came in but is no use to me as I am never going to go Novice (bought it to do MK 3DE but now not going!)

Lucky youhaving somewhere Like that to fitten, I currently do four laps of the field in canter then one in walk and the same on the other rein, before cooling him off. Will try timing it one o I get a watch, Thanks

I have that watch and I think it is great. I also use it at home when i to fitness work on my intermediate horse, we do three 5 minute canters up in one of the fields on the hill and i find that she finishes full of running
