cross country virgin!!

im taking my youngster to cross country on sunday, he can jump normal jumps and he jumps in the woods but we've never travelled to do jumping!!! i just want to know if anyone can give good advice on how to stay on and calm!!! he's a good boy at home but this is a totally new thing for both of us. im not bothered if we dont jump everything (as they've just put a boat in as part of the course, (might leave that out!!!!!) so please i'll be glad to recieve DO'S AND DON'TS!!! thanks guys
 
Enjoy! just school himround, let himtrot into things to have a good look and just school round. But most of all breath and have fun!

thank you i'll try, might have photo's of huge painful bruises on here next week!! i work in a school so i've got a whole week off next week to recover!! its great!!
 
I'm sure you will have great fun! Like Kat says, have a pop in trot over some smaller things then build up to whatever you both feel confident with! let us know how you get on!

The first piece of advice I was given when I asked for help before my first cross country: Always keep your mouth closed when jumping into water.

Second piece: wear bright colours - it helps them pick you out against the mud when you've been tanked across a field and fallen off.

I'm very thankful to say I've never needed either and I have always thoroughly enjoyed myself!
 
thank u very much for the advice. our colour is purple, unfortunately for bear!!!! my sec A's a gelding too and his stuff is pink! well i have got a 3 r old daughter and i love pink!
