Cross - Loaners show so little care!! Rant!

sorry to here about your pony coming back in such a state, hopefully she wont take long to get back to the way she was.

I have a little sec A out on to a lovely home, he is better there than with us, although a little on porky side at the mo. but he is in better condition than when they had him, if i'm honest

he may be coming home soon though as is a little "bright" off the L/R. I can understand how you feel.

do you still have willow?

Can you not get some sort of recompense from them since you had a contract?
Claim them for your time and fuel to go and collect the pony, claim for damage to the saddle, etc?
I've no idea if you will get anywhere, but I'd be tempted to try.

Yes, Willow is also out on loan - although the family that haver her are fantastic (rushes to touch wood quickly!!). A lovely, talented little rider wants to do BSJA with her, but unfortunately Willow had to have six months off after leaving her previous loaner. It was not the loaner's fault at all, and I do not blame her in anyway - they had a saddle properly fitted for her, but the saddler must have got something wrong, as Will's ended up with a badly bruised back, and a shoulder well out of line. She has only recently come back into work, but fingers crossed things might start to go right for her now.

In my experience once a loaner wants to give the horse/pony back - they usually have their reasons for wanting/needing to do so. It's during this time that previously excellent standards may slip. Sounds as if they haven't had time or wanted to ride the pony since they spoke to you 2 months ago and probably didn't want/couldn't afford to arrange transport for her. Hopefully your pony will not have suffered any long term ill effects and that your tack will come up better once it's had a good clean and oil.

thats awful, so sad.would have been better if they had said earlier they didnt want to keep her rather than let her go like that.
so sorry
not all loaners are like that nthough-ive had about 3 horses on loan over the years and all the owners have been really happy with how their horses went back(schooled, fit n healthy!)

am not surprised you're upset, personally for me, I'll never let a horse leave my care again! >:( am fed up of the few who'll make out they're the next olympic standard eventer and are so full of plans (read that as BS) when in reality they can barely pick up a yard brush *rollseyes*

funny thing is, from what seen in the horse world there's a very evident belief of having more ability than you do, now me, I'm a severely nervous rider who far prefers to stay on the ground and drive and don't give two hoots if folks say that means I'm crap - cos I pay the bills, and long as my horses are happy and getting the attention they love that's enough for moi! LOL
