That the bum is higher than the withers. common in youngsters but not so good in older horses. Some have problems working from behind, saddle slips forward too. Also rider gets tipped forwards
Bum higher than whithers, and in a young horse, sign of another growth spurt! Rode an older horse once that was croup high, and it felt like riding downhill!
A horse that is croup high is higher at the croup than the withers.
Sign of growth in youngsters.
Older croup high horses can be more on the forehand, but some aren't. My mare is croup high, and is very active behind, and never looks or feels downhill.
Depends on the age. Croup high supposed not to make dressage horses but there are exceptions. I believe that croup high make good sprinters and jumpers but correct me if I am wrong.
It will mean that during that test the horse will have stiffened the hind legs and back and pushed the weight down onto the shoulder. This happens when the horse needs to bring the hind legs further under their body and carry themselves more out infront of you so you have the feeling that the shoulders are up and there is as much or more horse infront of you than behind you. Horses that go croup high need to stretch the muscles in front of and behind the withers.
