Hi Guys,

Have posted in Vets but i thought i might get a better response if posted in here and i am desperate!

My boy had a stifle arthroscopy this morning on both hind, due to bi lateral lameness. He was found to have a large tear in his cruciate ligamnet on the right hind but no problem (as such) on the left. Left is just a very inflamed joint due to how much he has been compensating. Surgeon seemed quite hopeful of his chances of coming back into full work.

I was wondering if any ones horses have ahd this? Or if any one can give me any ideas of recovery process? Time scales ect.

Thank you, L x

A TB we owned had the arthroscopy with same diagnosis.
he was put on 3 months box rest with regular scans and injections into the joint (cortisone if memory serves me right) He had some walking out in hand and followed the vets instructions to the T, sadly after 3 months he was still lame, the vet advised 3 months field rest, I was so disheartened. Sadly after just 3 days he had an accident so a decision was made :(
I hope your lad comes right :)

That after plan sounds similar to the one we have been given. Box rest, then inhand walking then 12x12 paddock.

Its the in hand i am worried about. He is by no means an easy horse to handle on the ground. Wont hurt you but he is a big daft sod!

Sorry to hear about your lad AMW. Heart breaking x
