For simplicity the photo is here... and you can complain at www.asa.org.uk
Personally I'm saddened that the horse had cause to get so distressed during a photoshoot, but even more shocked and disgusted that Fat Face are happy to use such a photo in their published catalogue -surely a harmonious picture could sell clothes just as well?
This is obvious very distressing to the horse, and it looks like the man is pulling so hard the bridle might of snapped? Just by the leadrope acting as a martingale

I dont think so.
Its a moment in time, I am the first to jump on anyone mistreating a horse, but tbh this doesnt look like "Mistreatment" just a bad shot of perhaps not an ideal situation
it looks like there's a leather head collar under a half bridle its the head collar throat lash that's snapped.
definitely ham fist-ed
stupid photo
and I'm not even going to mention the trainers and no hat (ooops just did !!)
simply foolish
fat face --- fat chance .
Likewise, an opportunistic shot of a ham fisted guy, but the horse looks as though it is wearing a rubber snaffle...? Not the best advertisement in the world!

yes the clip has completly come apart on the head collar. i thinks its an awful photo, he is clearly pulling quite hard to see how much the cheek peice is sticking out.
It's not even a metal bit. There's loads of photos of 'moments in time' where you see horses with their mouths open, eyes wide, bit all over the place. Obviously it looks awful but i dare say no harm was done.
I wouldn't say the horse looked distressed, it looks more like it was taking advantage of the d1ck on its back and was planning on doing a runner (and possibly succeeding)!
I like FatFace, irrespective of how badly their models ride
This is a spoof post, right, like the Haribo sweets one?
Can't believe those comments on Horse Gossip. Do any of those people ever ride, outside a riding school?
Oh my goodness, a horse has thrown its head up while being ridden and the rider has maintained a contact. Theres no blood coming out of its mouth, the bit is a mild one, there isn't even a martingale, just a neck strap. Just because a horse makes a face which in a human being would imply distress doesn't mean cruelty. Horses have different anatomy to us.
The horse could easily have shied at something (quite likely the camera on the ground) and the rider has maintained control.
Calm down, stop making a big deal when theres nothing and realise its just a snap shot in time from a funny angle.
If you look at the photo again, in the shoes of someone who knows nothing about horses - would you agree that the horse's expression is almost a caracature of a horse laughing?
It's just a bad photo taken at the wrong time! Looks like he was maybe head shaking and bit grabbing or he is just baout to sod off with the guy. I have seen horses do worse.
Would however like to know what the numpty on HG thinks is the blood on the bit?! Looks like grass to me!
yes its not especially flattering and it doesn't make me think "oh those clothes look good" but as KatB says there are a lot worse polo photos about in H&H every week (and no i don't think polo is cruel either!)
