Crufts 2013

So when is floofbag's agility debut? :p

I think it's same to assume that none of D's relatives will be competing. :o

Um, would help if he stopped helpfully trying to lift the agility equipment off the ground. No idea why he does that. He'd make a good agility dog, he's small and short coupled and fast, so it's an option for when we fail dismally at IPO :p

yup.. ill be there on sunday... busy day for me as taking my great dane to show.. and doing the DD stand with my two afghan hounds... :/ god knows how ill manage hahahah... my cousin n mate r comming to help hold dogs and be my slaves for the day .. ahah

A question for those of you who are exhibiting. Do you take helpers to leave with your dog whilst you have a look round the show, do you leave your dog on its own on the bench, or do you stay with it and hardly see anything of the rest of the show?
Whenever I was showing I saw very little of the rest of the show, there were usually 2 of us who took it in turns to stay with the dogs, but we still weren't away for long. Certainly not the leisurely wander round, looking at other rings, DD etc that I was able to do when I went a couple of years ago without a dog.
I often used to think that the exhibitors and their dogs were the losers at the show, and were really only there to help the KC earn lots of money from the general public.:(

We've always taken turns at watching each others dogs but Crufts is much better without a dog. You get to see more & natter more and can get out before the mad rush at the end of the day.

Bullie people always cage their dogs anyway, and often padlock them as well leaving a towel over the front of the cage if not in attendence.Must say by the time we have hauled up ther starting out at silly o`Clock, done the showing stuff ,we are just so tired that getting out and home are the main aim! Traipsing `round stalls that have upped their prices for the show is the last thing on our minds. As for getting Best of Breed..no thankyou, just adds to the length of the day.Bull terriers and minis rarely get a look in beside the trimmed terriers anyway.

im taking two helpers... i have HUGE dogs and i dont leave them... they are all well behaved and i take them round the stalls with me.. :)

Never leave your fog alone on the bench at crufts. A few years back a child woke a sleeping Weimaraner and got bitten. The dog was alone on the bench. Don't forget there are lots of general public at crufts who are not used to dog shows. I go 1 day to show the dogs and a 2nd day to watch obedience and do shopping. I also go with friends and we are benched next to each other for trips to the loo and to get cups of tea etc

Thats how I used to feel satinbaze. I didn't mind people asking to stroke the dogs but would never have left them in case some idiot prodded them when they were asleep, or worse!

I might be going on Sunday to have a mooch round. Don't know if mum's entered any this year. I'm sort of going off it now, it's too busy, too noisy and a lot of the things there now aren't even related to dogs and showing :/

I've got my champion bitch in Veteran Bitch Saluki- her first year as a veteran.

Also got her litter making their Crufts debut- got all of them qualified, so I'm showing the bitch in puppy, and one of the dogs in puppy dog, and the other dogs are being shown by their owners, so fingers crossed for a good day out for our line!! It's the first litter that was my match, and my first year since my Mum died so my first year head of the clan so to speak, so itS an important be for us.

Good luck all!!!
