Crufts 2026 roll call

Back home and knackered and wasn’t even showing . Good to catch up with friends and watch some judging . Couple of the dog food stands were seriously pushy , one lot in particular were like contestants on The Apprentice!

Butternut are the worst as they have a stand in each hall now!

Home from a long but pleasant day on DD, lots of polite and engaged people wanting to chat, a few friends kindly stopped by to say hello. Wee dog was very tolerant about it all but is exhausted now we're home.

Disappointed to see the GSD missing from the group - I understand it was spun at vetting.
Yes apparently so. Not seen the dog but the owners have been in working trials for years so would have thought they’d have a sound dog . Also GSDs are now category 2 and I thought they didn’t have automatic vet checks ?

Cat 3 breeds have a vet check before BOB is confirmed (see the Saint last year). All breeds have a vet check (basic exam and trot up) behind the scenes of the main arena, including the Cat 3 breeds (so they have 2 effectively). The watch point for GSD is rear confo/movement so one can only assume that was the issue. IT is entirely possible for a dog to go lame between BOB and the group though I guess?

Thanks, that explains it. I watched a couple of classes and while hind movement has improved there were still some with very loose hocks . There were also a couple of no doubt much loved dogs that were truly shocking specimens . Low entries and easier qualification has a lot to answer for . These poor owners had spent a fortune to be placed last 🙁

Friday isn't (usually) horrendous. If you pass a loo that doesn't have a queue go and have a wee whether you need one at that moment or not, the spin to win nonsense at the big brands in hall 3 always have a massive queue, don't try and leave the car park shortly after 4pm when the competitors are allowed out, and perfect the hard stare for the predatory dog food salespeople. You'll be grand. 😂

That Tibetan Viking is just amazing ! And so enormous !
It was funny the way, the Canadian Eskimo Dog tried to eat Claire Baulding's phone, she had no control over him !

Also, the Corgi bitch Hazel and her owners were so sweet !

Really love watching Crufts, let's hope, for once a Basset Hound makes something, usually you just see them sleeping around the place...;)

It definitely got busier this afternoon , was quite pleasant walking round this morning. I recommend travelling by train, was very easy .
