The corgi people are always ace but always really old....would be nice to see someone nearer my own age involved in the breed.....might have a word actually and see how I can be involved...they're ace dogs!
Annette I think it is a universal problem, you get lots of people who want to handle, train, trial up to a certain age and then when they hit their teenage years - the opposite sex!! A social life! Cars!
Seen a lot of people with great potential to assist their breed go off the boil that way - I really wish I had stuck at it and got my foot in the door properly - a girl I used to pal about with now lives in Germany and is one of the world's top handlers, jetting all over the world to work with amazing dogs, bah! Very jealous....

I'm now worrying what you define as really old

The Corgi ladies last year looked (at a rough guestimate) about 70/80.
CC - I think you might be right....it doesn't help that they're not a popular breed either. It tends to be people who've had them they're whole life who are the ones still involved, unfortunately they're don't seem to be many people left to pass the baton on to, so to speak, as they're just not as cute or 'useful' are a lab/GSD/spangle.
I know we are looking at hosting an event later in the year to get young people more involved, wee handling classes in breed, obedience, working trials, club members will give talks etc, there will be quizzes about doggy knowledge - would any of the corgi clubs be interested in that?

Phew, I'm not quite there yet. Actually the only person I currently know who has corgis is in her 70s so you could have a point.
I have two dogs qualified, one on hound day (friday) and one on gundog day (sunday). Im not sure im going to take Maya on friday, apparently the top placings are already decided and she has been very poorly the last few months so i might give it a miss, i will probably make up my mind friday morning. Would be a shame to miss it as its the first time i've had a dog qualified hound day, but the £8 parking fee is enough to put anyone off lol.
Definately going sunday with my deliquent veteran lab, its her first time at crufts, she is incredibly naughty to show, spends most of her time upside down wiggling on her back across the ring, so it will surely be her last too lol. She's first in the ring though so we can get that embarrassment out of the way and then take her SHOPPING! She will love that!!
I had two puggies qualified for toy day but i lost them in November.. RIP my little babies
