Last night usual night time regeme everyone up to bed. Pip in her bed with her blankey next to my bedside table. Quick stroke before I go to sleep. Turn off the light and she starts to cry. Sounds like a sobbing human. Goes on for ten minutes so turn on the light and she isn't asleep (she often had 'nightmares' when we first had her snarling and barking in her sleep then wimpering. But she is wide awake sucking her blanket just crying. Anyhoo invite her onto the bed for a cuddle as usually she is fast asleep before we settle in. (She is allowed on the bed but chooses not to unless its a cuddle or a lie in or OH is away. Anyway she settles down so light goes off and she removes herself from our bed back to hers and continues to suck her blanket and cry.
I have been with her 24/7 for the last eight days and the only thing that has upset her was on Tuesday when a delivery man knocked too loudly at the door and frightened her under the table.
So why do dogs cry? And how can I stop it. (She sleeps up with us because she gets v stressed if left alone in the dark. Hopefully we are gradually going to introduce it but she was in a state when we got her and seperation overnight made it worse.
Ideas please.
