Crying happy tears. Very long story. I have had my horse since he was an 8 month old colt and he is 18 this year. We have been through quite a lot together. He has not always been the easiest to ride or handle but he can be the most amazing horse when he wants to be. For the last 18 months we have been hacking with his best friend and mine, who is also his field companion. Both horses have been getting progressively worse to lead in and out of the field and hacking has been quite dangerous at times. Very spooky and silly horses. Two weeks ago it all came to a head with the horses carting us up the road when we got them in. Mine was so strong that he bent the brass buckle on his headcollar. We decided to separate them and not hack out together until they were back on an even keel. Well today was the moment of truth for my boy, I decided to hack out on our own. He has always been prone to planting, spinning and napping so was quite anxious. I Was confident i could cope with what he was going to throw at me but the volume of traffic has increased and I was worried about whether people would be patient if he was having a strop. Well, all I can say is that my boy was soooooooo blooming perfect I had tears of joy streaming down my face at one point. Tractors, diggers, HGV's, a herd of sheep in the middle of the road, quad bikes with calves in the back, chickens and very scary recycling boxes. He looked at it all, but just went, naaaa, that's not scary, come on mum lets canter on this verge.
I just wanted to share really. I know that it may seem like nothing to some people but at times my confidence with him has been rock bottom and i have had to force myself to ride.
I LOVE MY HORSE!!!!!!!

Hey well done the pair of you, great to read this. So much going on and he did not bat an eye lid how fantastic is that. Its not a small thing at all, and I so understand how you feel when things have been hard and then it all comes together, great post, made me smile.
