Oh gosh, poor little chap.it was a chinchilla with a rectal prolapse. After that was replaced unde GA we were referred to an exotics hospital to try and uncover the cause. He had x rays, 2 CTs (one normal and one with contrast), 2 ultrasounds and a blood draw, but nothing abnormal was found that could have explained why he prolapsed in the first place.
ETA - it hasnt reoccurred though which is the main thing
Yeah to be fair I’d have guessed at £1000 for the CT alone. That does sound pretty reasonable.yeah, it was really nerve wracking. He's 9, so not a young lad either now. But it wasn't as expensive as I thought it was going to be - "only" £885, including an OOH consult and GA when it first happened. I was fully expecting a bill for about £2.5k but thank god it wasn't anywhere close to that bad.
