Has anyone had a CT done on a small animal and what was the cost please? I will obviously check with the vets too but just wondering. I'm paying regardless though tbf
Thank you

it was a chinchilla with a rectal prolapse. After that was replaced unde GA we were referred to an exotics hospital to try and uncover the cause. He had x rays, 2 CTs (one normal and one with contrast), 2 ultrasounds and a blood draw, but nothing abnormal was found that could have explained why he prolapsed in the first place.

ETA - it hasnt reoccurred though which is the main thing

Oh gosh, poor little chap. :(
Good news that he’s on the mend though. GA alone is a big deal for a small animal.

yeah, it was really nerve wracking. He's 9, so not a young lad either now. But it wasn't as expensive as I thought it was going to be - "only" £885, including an OOH consult and GA when it first happened. I was fully expecting a bill for about £2.5k but thank god it wasn't anywhere close to that bad.
Yeah to be fair I’d have guessed at £1000 for the CT alone. That does sound pretty reasonable.
How long do they live for generally?

So he could potentially have ages left. I can see why you decided to do it. Do you have a photo?
My OH always wanted a chinchilla but it’s something we have never actually got round too and won’t now.
They are very very cute!

Yes he is!! I literally checked him 5 times a day the first few days he was home.... He HATED me for that 😂 but it's not reoccurred thank f-ck !!!!

When speaking to the emergency vet they asked for a pic to confirm so I have this
The weirdest thing was he acted completely normally. If I hadn't SEEN it hanging out of him I would not have known really, but noticed him looking between his back legs and thought, oh I wonder if he has a hair ring, and saw this.
