Hi all,

Thinking of taking my boy cubbing sat first time this year. Only had him since Xmas and took him out twice then as I'm relatively new to riding and hunting also. He has been quite 'keen' for want of a better word recently. Just wondering if I should carry on for Saturday even though he's been more spooky etc or give it a week or so until he settles back down. Not sure what could be causing his high jinx?

Thank you

If you can I'd take him out as often as possible. My horse is barking mad for at least the first month, you'd think he'd never been hunting before but after that settles down quite well. The more often you go, the less exciting each outing becomes (in theory)!

FF is right you just have to keep going go out every time you possibly can
Put a green ribbon on him just warn others .
Most do settle if you repeat enough.
It might be worth getting someone experienced to advise you on his bitting a stronger bit can help with some horses .

Just keep in mind it's likely to be pretty busy on Saturday given where we're meeting, but agree, more times you get out the better. B was bucking like an idiot across every field for the first few outings last year settled after a few weeks and we had a great season......would have been so easy to just drag the 'old boy' out of semi-retirement but you have to stick at it a while :)

Op I will hopefully be out sat too for the first time this season, I only managed couple outings last year so no doubt he will be excited to say the least! If in doubt I will be at the back, bit early for hip flask unfortunately vor, if any good ideas for where to park be grateful for a pm!

Can't seem to get my post to post! Ahh! He's just been a bit on his toes recently too early for hip flask?! Haha Meesha would be great to see you again if you would like to unbox with me and hack your more than welcome. I'm going to hack a bit to the meet to take initial edge off-that's what I've been told to do anyway hopefully it works. Vor I guess your going tomorrow too? I've been emailed the meet and time but told something different by another follower? Going to try and get hold of someone to confirm.

Usually best to follow what the Secretary says rather than A. N. Other, normally their info comes direct from the MFH :)

Just to say how brilliant it was to be out again with wsvh yesterday after nearly a year, warm welcome, beautiful country and great weather. Numpty horse almost behaved himself, slight breaking issues as usual but I will forgive him as we managed to lose our curb chain in the 20 metres from lorry to road and he managed to stand still some of the time!

He was excited but you coped very well with it, I find longer you stay out the more they settle, hope fun ride is good, great weather!
