Hi guys,
Well it looks like its nearly time for me to take my youngster cubbing. I have never done this before im going to go with the North Staffs and i think they are planning to start this thursday possibly next.
Im going alone and i dont know anyone wthere either so i was wondering if anyone could tell me what i should expect? Can any one offer me any advise or words of encouragement im a little nervous :/
I have heard cubbing is a good way to introduce a young horse to hunting? Also i have been told there shouldnt be many jumps and it should be fairly slow?

Would i be ok to wear boots on my horse? I wear my eskadron xc boots for everything she has lovely legs and i would like to preserve them it seems wrong to take them off for probably the most exciting thing we will have done to date!
Should i wear tweed ? and would a black saddle pad be ok or should i purchase a black or white numnha ? I dont want to be a newbie and wearing the wrong stuff! Im not worried about my horse she should be fine she is bred to hunt so hopefully she will show me how its done !! I just hope she is going to be fit enough ?

eeeeeekkkkkk !!

I have PMd you!!

but forgot to say that for cubbing I would go with the boots and the saddle pad you have, but if you're to continue and go hunting I would swap the saddle pad for a black or a white numnah - white is correct but black is perfectly acceptable (or brown if your tack is brown)

as for boots for hunting - there's so many posts on here, I'll let you decide. personally I dont boot up as I thinkthey cause too many problems, but its a very personal and horse dependant thing.
